The Venues at the Factory and I had partnered on a very special project when they were opening their new cocktail lounge space. The new space screamed speakeasy, and I wanted to put a spotlight on a part of the wedding day that is typically overlooked; the cocktail reception.
Many couples are starting to do cocktail-style receptions to make their day feel less stuffy and more laid back. The couple has more of an opportunity to mingle with guests, and having more time to spend with each other.
Chess has been making a comeback since the Netflix show The Queen's Gambit aired so I wanted to incorporate that into the theme.
Once the ceremony was finished, guests were escorted into the lounge through a special entrance embellished with drapery, uplighting, and greenery. Sinatra tunes drew you into the swanky lounge while you were greeted by the perfect ambiance of mood lighting, bar, and inviting lounge seating with card games and chess just waiting to be played. It is the perfect way to get your guests to be in the moment and mingle. If you headed to the bar, you could try the signature drink which was the Gambit Gibson, or try one a drink of your choosing with gin and vodka supplied by the Manchester Distillery.
Once you dominate at a game of chess, head towards the exit. You will find the seating chart designed after a chess board for those still wanting to have a sit down dinner. You could also find the groom's cake and bride's cakes on display.
In the main space of the venue, there was lots to do and see. You could enjoy food provided by Mezzanine Catering, desserts and cake from Autumn Nomad, get your photo taken at the venue's photo booth or a professional photo with Lensy Michelle, enjoy a glass of rose champagne or an affogato from Chic Party Carts, play life size chess thanks to Games 2 Go NH, or just simply enjoy your cocktail while listening to the tunes provided by DJ Greg of NRG Entertainment.
All of these activities gave guests in attendance ideas for planning their own wedding, and I hope now that I have put the event into words did for you too.
