Week in Key Largo

A group of family and friends choose a new location for my sister's birthday week each year, and this year was Key Largo. If you are visiting Key Largo or keys close to here, this will give you some options on what to do and places to eat.

Where to Stay: we stayed at a family home but one place we stayed in the past that was amazing was the Cheeca Lodge on Islamorada. It definitely is up there in price, but it's a great place to stay.

Where to Scuba: if you need to get your license, get it through Rainbow Reef. Since I have my open water certification, I just needed to call and get on a boat for either a morning or afternoon dive trip. They take you to some pretty cool places including seeing the Jules Underwater Lodge when I was getting certified because it was too rough one day.

Where to Snorkel: many different places on the water but many go to John Pennenkamp Coral Reef State Park. If you are up for a drive, you can check out Biscayne National Park as well which is closer to Miami.

If you have a boat: Take your boat 3 hours south to Key West and check out/even camp at Dry Tortugas National Park.

Lobstering/Fishing: We went lobstering out in the boat, and fished/shark fished off our dock. In order to do this, make sure you have your license. (make sure to determine if you are a FL resident or not) We caught 17 lobster one day! We ate good that night!

Where to Eat
